Pirate Parents
Doing a show takes a lot of time and commitment. We sat down with some parents from the "Odd At Sea" cast to talk about both those subjects.

The free Apple QuickTime player is available here.
Doing a play with CTM can be different than doing a play based out of your school. You'll be working with other interested (and interesting kids) from other schools - sometimes kids come from as far away as New Hampshire to be in our shows.
This means you need to miss as few rehearsals as possible. If you do a sport you might want to wait until your season is over before committing to a show.
But remember - the time you spend has a huge payoff - very rarely do you get a standing ovation from a roomful of people for passing a math test!
Auditioning is fun!
In general, auditions can be a huge amount of fun - if you're ready for them and if you approach them like a game.
It usually works like this:
- Memorize a song or short poem - if you can find a speech from a play you've done, even better.
- Show up at the audition with plenty of time to spare
- Sign in with your folks
- Important!! - read the rehearsal schedule with your folks!!! It will be online shortly.
- Decide if you have the time to dedicate and focus so you can do a great job.
- If you can't do it, that's OK, maybe you can next time
- Have a seat, one of our friendly helpers will call you and probably some other kids as well
- Go to the audition room and we'll ask you to show your stuff.
- Head back out and go get an ice cream
- If we'd like to see you again (a "callback") you'll be contacted pretty soon.
- If you don't hear from us you'll get a letter formally thanking you for trying out.
Don't be discouraged if you don't a get a call back the first time. Plan on coming back - or ask if you can help backstage or take a class.
